The ATA encourages you to apply for membership. We want you to experience the wealth of knowledge and enjoy the benefits of being active in this highly specialized and regarded society. Selection for membership in the American Thyroid Association is based primarily on:
- Demonstrated interest in the ATA is paramount in seeking membership.
- Commitment to attending ATA meetings: Annual, Symposia, Workshops, Webinars.
- Dedication to understanding the causes and improving the clinical management of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer.
- Focus on thyroid-oriented activities, such as research, teaching, and/or clinical time devoted to thyroid-oriented work.

2024 rates (dues prorated semi-annually per join date with the exception of Associate and Early Career members)
Applicants must meet the Membership Guidelines to qualify for membership.
Active Members
Active members are eligible to vote and hold office in the Association. All Active members are invited to serve on committees and nominate colleagues for awards
Early Career Members – Active
Early Career members are those that have completed their training program or postdoctoral fellowship in the last 5 years and would qualify for Active membership. Early Career Active Members are not eligible to vote. Applicants should complete the Active member application and provide training program dates.
Corresponding Members
Corresponding members are qualified for Active membership but cannot meet its obligations because of geographic location.
Early Career Members – Corresponding
Early Career members are those that have completed their training program or postdoctoral fellowship in the last 5 years and would qualify for Corresponding membership. Applicants should complete the Corresponding member application and provide training program dates.
Advanced Thyroid Professional
An Advanced Thyroid Professional is a thyroid healthcare professional, such as NP, RN or PA, without a medical or doctoral degree (MD, DO, or PhD).
Associate Members
Trainees who are in clinical or surgical residents/fellows in a training program, basic-science postdoctoral fellows, medical students in an accredited MD/DO granting program or graduates student in a PhD granting program are eligible for Associate membership for up to five years (10 years for PhDs).
Senior Members
An Active member for 20 or more years and has reached the age of 70 years and is retired from active full time professional activities or is unable to meet the obligations of Active membership is eligible for Senior membership. Senior members are eligible to vote and serve on committees.
Emeritus Members
An Active, Senior, or Corresponding member for 30 or more years and has reached the age of 75 years. Emeritus members are not required to attend meetings, may not vote, and may not hold office. Emeritus members may have complimentary meeting registration and dues.
