From Clinical Thyroidology® for the Public: GLP1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RAs) are popular medications that are used to treat diabetes and obesity. In animal studies with GLP1-RAs, an increase in C-cell tumors was seen, which are associated with medullary thyroid cancer, which is a rare form of thyroid cancer. However, it’s unclear if this risk applies to humans.
