Accreditation
This activity was planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Colorado School of Medicine and the American Thyroid Association. The University of Colorado School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points credit claiming is now closed.
- The CME and MOC Evaluation Survey Submission deadline was October 31, 2018, no exceptions.
- The option of choosing CME, MOC or both types of credit was available through the Evaluation Survey link previously provided on this page. The Evaluation Survey is now closed and the ability to claim credit is no longer available. Attendees received notification of this deadline in the Know Before You Go Pre-Meeting email message, on a handout distributed when all attendees checked in to pick up their meeting badge at registration, in the printed program book and expo, on signage posted in the meeting venue and in post meeting email reminders.
- Only ABIM board certified physicians were eligible to apply for ABIM MOC Medical Knowledge Points.
- MOC credits will be directly reported to the ABIM by November 16, 2018. No separate email or documentation will be distributed. Attendees who claimed MOC credit should visit their ABIM record to see the 2018 ATA Annual Meeting credit claimed applied by the end of November.
- CME Credit Certificates for physicians and CME Certificates of Attendance for all other healthcare professionals will be distributed via email on or about November 16, 2018. Attendees who submitted Evaluation Surveys should not expect to receive a certificate or other notification prior to November 16, 2018.
Designation
2018 Endocrine Neck Advanced Ultrasound Course //October 3, 2018
The University of Colorado School of Medicine designated this live activity for a maximum of 8.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should have only claimed the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which included participation in the evaluation component, enabled the participant to earn up to 8.75 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
2018 E. Chester Ridgway Trainee Conference //October 3-7, 2018
The University of Colorado School of Medicine designated this live activity for a maximum of 38.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should have only claimed the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Available credits for the Ridgway program included credits available for the main ATA scientific meeting. Successful completion of this CME activity, which included participation in the evaluation component, enabled the participant to earn up to 38.25 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
88th Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association //October 3-7, 2018
The University of Colorado School of Medicine designated this live activity for a maximum of 28 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should have only claimed the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which included participation in the evaluation component, enabled the participant to earn up to 28 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
Target Audience
With attendance of over 1,600 healthcare professionals, the 88th Annual Meeting of the ATA brought together top researchers and practitioners in thyroidology with interests in the fields of endocrinology, oncology, nuclear medicine, internal medicine, surgery, pathology, cytology, biology and related areas.
Educational Design
The 88th Annual Meeting of the ATA featured innovative talks on clinically relevant topics, “discussion/ debate” workshops, interactive sessions, state-of-the-art presentations and unparalleled collegiality in a multidisciplinary setting.
Upon completion of this conference participants should have be able to:
- Describe sonographic, cytological and molecular tools used in the evaluation of thyroid nodules and their impact on patient care and patient outcomes.
- Identify less invasive methods in the management of thyroid nodules and/or small thyroid cancers.
- Understand new discoveries in thyroid hormone action, metabolism and transport and applications toward improved patient care.
- Identify newest practice guidelines and staging system of thyroid cancers and understand how to implement these changes in order to improve patient care.
- Identify novel treatment opportunities for advanced thyroid cancers using emerging genomic data as well as novel cancer therapies.
- Identify emerging treatment approaches for Graves’ disease as well as Graves’ opthalmopathy within a multidisciplinary practice.
- Understand translational studies in thyroidology that have led to novel clinical strategies for benign and malignant thyroid disease.
