Cardiovascular and Metabolic Issues In Thyroid Disease Patients

WHAT: 2008 Spring Symposium

Cardiovascular and Metabolic Issues in Patients with Thyroid Dysfunction: Implications for treating Hypo- or Hyperthyroidism

Thyroid disease experts will discuss how excesses and deficiencies in thyroid hormones (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism) can adversely affect the cardiovascular system, resulting in extremely common metabolic and cardiovascular abnormalities.

  • Discuss the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and metabolic processes on thyroid dysfunction
  • Identify and evaluate the various effects of cardiovascular and metabolic processes on hypothyroid and hyperthyroidism in patients and treatment of these disorders
  • Discuss the impact of health policy and thyroidal conditions in patients with cardiovascular and metabolic issues
  • Highlight recommendations by various subspecialties regarding thyroid health in regard to cardiovascular and metabolic processes
