Annual contributions to the ATA provide invaluable support for thyroid research and education efforts targeted at the prevention and treatment of thyroid disease through excellence in research, clinical care, education, and public health. Here are some of the key initiatives your contributions help support:

  • 2015 Thyroid Research Grants: The ATA aims to support and launch groundbreaking exploration in thyroid hormone function and metabolism as well as, medullary and papillary thyroid cancer research and investigation into the molecular mechanisms impacting the development of aggressive thyroid cancer. Research by ATA members has led to important breakthroughs that have improved the lives of patients with thyroid diseases and thyroid cancer.
  • Development of ATA Guidelines: Three new guidelines have already been published since December 2014: Guidelines for the Treatment of Hypothyroidism, Management Guidelines for Children with Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer and the Revised ATA Guidelines for the Management of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma. In progress this year as well, are the much anticipated Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer Guidelines, Thyroid and Pregnancy Guidelines and the Revised Hyperthyroidism Guidelines. The ongoing success and cyclical revisions of our guidelines depends upon annual support and we are so grateful for those that contribute year after year.
  • Annual E. Chester Ridgway Trainee Conference: The ATA is pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual E. Chester Ridgway Trainee Conference (Ridgway) will begin on Sunday, October 18, 2015 and continue through the 15th International Thyroid Congress (ITC). Replacing the previously named ATA Trainees’ Track and Endocrine Fellows Conference, the Ridgway includes exciting new components with the overall objective of advancing the trainee understanding of thyroid physiology, disease and treatment. The ATA Ridgway Legacy Fund was created to continue Dr. Ridgway’s commitment to education, mentorship, scholarship, and patient care. The ATA supports fellows and young investigators in the science and art of thyroidology through the E. Chester Ridgway Trainee Conference and invites you to further Dr. Ridgway’s legacy by sustaining trainee education through the Give Online page at www.thyroid.org and selecting Ridgway Legacy Fund in the Program Area menu.

  • Outreach and Education to ATA’s Public and Patient Community: As part of ATA’s strategic plan initiatives, the ATA aims to be the patient-preferred resource for information and education pertaining to thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. We are optimizing the ATA website for usability and visibility. Our patient brochures and guidelines will be enhanced online and offered in mobile resources for patient audiences. Friends of the ATA electronic newsletters and Clinical Thyroidology for the Public are produced and provided complimentary to our patient/public audience, because of your donations and generosity.

Thank you for your Support!
